About Us

The Meenakshi Ammal Trust was founded in the year 1983, as a public charitable educational trust by late Mrs.D. Meenakshi Ammal, a noted philanthropist, with the aim of providing quality education to poor students, this has been taken as a challenge by her Son in low Thiru. A.N. Radha Krishnan M.A., D.Com. as a single person he is successfully managing the entire trust and all its constituent Institutions towards the victory stand.

Since its inception, the trust has grown to the status of deemed to be university under section 3 of the UGC act of1956 on the 31stof March 2004 named Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research with an impressive array of Educational Institutions.

It is popularly known as MAHER (Deemed to be University) in all National Educational Statutory bodies like NAAC, NIRF and UGC.
We started with the faculties of Medicine, Dentistry And Nursing and now have expanded to Faculty of Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Health Sciences, Humanities and Science and Yoga Science and Therapy.

Our vision is excellence in education and healthcare and to work relentlessly and upgrade the standards in quality of Education, Teaching, Training, Research and Social Outreach activities, setting an example in India and abroad. Our mission is to provide quality education in all fields of Medical, Dental and Para-Medical and serve humanity with sincerity and dedication.
Under MAHER (DU) we have following Constituent Institutions and Faculty

Apart from undergraduate courses in the above institutions we also provide post-graduation and super speciality courses. Overall, MAHER offers around 21 courses for a large student community.
We have a very structured system within our administration for smooth functioning of Deemed to be University. There are five main governing bodies - Board of Studies, Academic Council, Planning and Monitoring Board, Finance Committee and the Board of Management.
Infrastructure and learning resources are one of MAHER’s greatest strength and we provide state of the art facilities for academic training, hospital services and other allied health support services. The Faculty of Medicine has an NABH accredited 1100 bedded hospital with 14 state of art operating theatres and is equipped to take care of all medical and surgical cases and emergencies. The hospital also has a separate section for transgender patients. Apart from routine medicine, we also have telemedicine, yoga medicine, music therapy and travel medicine There are eight highly sophisticated lecture theatres, each with LCD projectors, public address systems, Smart Board and Interactive Board facilities and we also have the latest, highly sophisticated, well equipped laboratories for the use of faculty and students.
We have state of art library with more than 50,000 books apart from plenty of latest National, International and e- Journals.
We at MAHER Deemed to be University give paramount importance to research activities and we believe it is the key to solving the health problems of the future and for that we have established three central research laboratories, with a large number of research projects, funded by DST, DBT and ICMR. We have developed an envious oeuvre of over 1000 publications, 30normal patents, 20 designed patents, 50 copyrights and more than 40 textbooks with ISBN. All of our research work has been appreciated by National authorities like NAAC, NIRF and UGC.
It is evident from our repertoire that MAHER has grown significantly since its inception in 2004 and we continue to strive to provide the highest quality of education and research indiverse fields while at the same time supporting our poor community through grants and employment opportunities.

Chancellor's Message

A renowned humanitarian Mr. A.N Radhakrishnan is the guiding light of MAHER Deemed to be University. His concept of education, stress on research and commitment to instilling universal values has come together to shape MAHER Deemed to be University into an institution where the latest advancements and discoveries combine with compassion and service-mindedness. We can no longer afford to see these two streams of knowledge as flowing in opposite directions. In truth, they complement one another. If we merge these streams, we will find that we are able to create a mighty river-a river whose waters can remove suffering and spread life to all of humanity.” Leaving apart his personal details, here is the message that he wants to say to every student who want to be a doctor. As a student within the Faculty of Medicine: Undergraduate, Postgraduate or in Continuing Education; your comprehensive educational experience will involve a blend of basic sciences, Medical technology and clinical practice. You will have the opportunity to develop skills like critical analysis, reasoning and problem solving to help you either prepare for or develop further your professional future and your capacity for life-long learning. . It is my fervent appeal that all of you should utilize the learning, training and extracurricular facilities available in the campus to the utmost during your sojourn here as students and do well in your studies.

TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Our curricula are based on a solid foundation with a balanced coverage of theory and practice, and undergo frequent update to keep them updated. We have also been gradually increasing the use of English as the medium of instruction. Our mission is to train students to become professionals, responsible, and good team players, with the skills and capabilities to contribute to the development of our local and regional societies, and to be able to survive in the increasingly competitive global market. At FHS, students will not only gain knowledge but more importantly understand the principles and importance of life-long learning.

The Faculty currently has an active and energetic team of full-time faculty members with diverse educational backgrounds with excellence academic experience. Their expertise and research interests cover wide areas and aspects of computer science and technology, including computer hardware, computer software, computer science theory, networking and communication, machine learning, pattern recognition, image processing, computer graphics, artificial intelligence and mathematics.
